The Tween Bridge Bombshell: What the Diagram Tells Us
I recently attended the public consultation for the Tween Bridge Solar Farm. What’s being proposed is massive:
⚡ 800 megawatts of solar generation
🔋 400 megawatts of battery storage
❓ Still no confirmed grid connection — despite the scale and cost
To truly understand what’s at stake, just look at the official scheme diagram from the developers:

Above: Draft layout of the Tween Bridge Solar Farm. Note the vast land use and unclear grid connection planning.
The layout covers thousands of acres of open countryside, stretching across Doncaster and North Lincolnshire. What’s missing? Any clear route or detail about where or how it will plug into the National Grid. They’ve accepted a connection offer for 2029—but the substation doesn’t even exist yet.
And yet the developers are steaming ahead, with enormous financial commitments and planning underway.
This isn’t careful infrastructure planning. This is speculative spending on a colossal scale—with rural communities, taxpayers, and future energy users bearing the risk.
This is mad Ed playing with your future
