The UK is not California, Spain, or the Middle East.

The UK’s winter solar resource is pitiful ,that’s not solvable with technology.

To make up the winter shortfall, we would need:

Either massive fossil/nuclear backup,Or impossible amounts of long-term energy storage (not commercially viable at any scale today).It’s not a “transition” technology.It’s a permanent dependency, solar locks us into relying on something else for actual security.

💸 A Monumental Waste of Money

Billions of pounds are being poured into solar farms that:

Provide little to no energy in winter,

Do nothing to support evening peaks,

Require enormous grid upgrades,

Get paid to switch off during midday surges,And industrialise our farmland for no strategic gain.

This is not green.This is not progress.This is an economic and environmental disaster dressed up as virtue.

🧠 A Rational Energy Policy Would:

End new large-scale solar immediately.

Invest in baseload: SMRs, nuclear, gas.Protect farmland and prioritise food security.

Limit solar to rooftops or brownfield sites for local self-consumption, not national supply.Acknowledge the physics instead of chasing political targets.

🛑 The Hard Truth.Solar in the United Kingdom does not work as a national power source.It will never work.And every pound spent on it is a pound wasted.
