Reality:

Of course it will “help” — because NESO was told by DESNZ to build the entire connections regime around Clean Power 2030, regardless of engineering limits.DESNZ’s Clean Power 2030 Action Plan literally instructs NESO to adopt capacity bands “aligned to national energy targets”. NESO did as instructed.This isn’t planning.This is obedience.

2. The Fantasy Engineering Behind the New PipelineNESO Claim #

Reality:

A “pipeline” is useless without pipes.

Britain’s grid does not contain the infrastructure to move even today’s renewable energy, let alone the 132 GW of new projects NESO just squeezed into the 2030 window.NESO’s own interactive tables show:111 GW of existing generation already connected.132 GW of new capacity “needed for 2030”.The vast majority being wind, solar and batteries.

3: “283 GW of generation and storage projects now have a clear pathway to connection.”

Reality:

Wind and solar do not “bring bills down for good.”They can’t even reach the people who need the power, because the grid between the North, Midlands and South is overloaded and years behind schedule.Curtailment payments already run into billions per year because the tracks cannot take the trains.Now Miliband wants to add another 132 GW of trains to the same broken track.This is not policy.This is a fantasy railway.

4. NESO Quietly Admits It Can’t Move the Power

Buried beneath the triumphant headlines is NESO’s own confession:NESO Admission: “This is not a silver bullet.Thousands of kilometres of new electricity lines and cables are required.”

There it is.Their own truth.

They can connect every wind farm on paper.They can approve every battery on a spreadsheet.They can cheerlead for Clean Power 2030 in Parliament.

But without the lines and SGTs and substations, none of this power reaches anyone.What NESO released yesterday is not a plan.It is a press release designed to hide the engineering gap.

NESO is running Stability Pathfinder because the UK grid is already struggling with:

Record-low inertia

Falling fault levels

Embedded generation disconnecting during voltage dips And yet the 2030 pipeline is made almost entirely of:

Non-synchronous wind

Non-synchronous solar

Non-synchronous batteries

Non-existent hydrogen storage

Non-existent long-duration storage

The Clean Power 2030 system is not stable.It is mathematically unstable, which is why NESO is desperately buying synthetic inertia.Put simply: We’re building trains that can’t slow down, can’t brake, and can’t stay on the rails without an experimental signalling system.

What NESO Cannot Admit
